Day of Silence Poem

By Cameo Garrick, 17 West Jordan High School senior

I WILL NOT BE SILENT ANYMORE
The lies we spin
for our family, our friends
Our G.S.A.'s become "Drama Club"
Our thoughts and voices become dubbed
We get scared when people inquire about our lives
We don't know how to take that dive.
We don't know what they would think, or react
Would they be disgusted or just face that fact
We are not ashamed, but there is silence
about who we are and love, we
don't want to be an inconvenience
But I have come to a conclusion
I love who I am, and I have made my decision
I WILL NOT BE SILENCED ANYMORE!!!!!
